The UFCW’s been busy trying to craft a distorted image of Bashas’ Family of Stores in order to push their agenda. Guess what? People know better.
Read the letters and comments below to find out what customers, the media, staff members and civic leaders are REALLY saying about Bashas’ Family of Stores.

I received the attached letter from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 99 and wanted to offer my support. As a former business owner, I appreciated working directly with my employees, without the interference of an intermediary. Arizona has flourished as a right-to-work state and I respect the right of business owners to operate their establishments in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
Bashas' Supermarkets has been a staple in Arizona for 75 years. With more than 14,000 employees throughout the state, you should be commended for your substantial contribution to our economy. Additionally, your dedication to giving back to the community whether through service or financial support to local charities, has never wavered. Thank you for your commitment to our community and for continuing to offer quality jobs to Mesa residents.

Just want to let you know that I will be shopping at Basha's
as often as possible to support you in your efforts to keep the union
from trying to control you! I am so glad to hear that you have taken a
stand against the kind of public blackmail they are trying. I am not
usually so outspoken about unions, but I really feel you have a right as
a company to decide what you want to do! I WILL increase my shopping at
Basha's!

Today I received a flyer in the mail saying Food City stores had sold out-of-date baby formula. I have been a Basha's customer since 1957 and do not believe such a thing happened. Any store can slip up and let stock stay on the shelves past its time occasionally, and when I find such a thing (in any store) I call it to an employee's attention, and the matter is dealt with promptly. Usually I even get thanked for my effort. I don't know what is going on here, but I suspect some kind of smear campaign, and I can't figure out why. Our closest store was the Fry's at 19th and Dunlap which is now closing, so our new store will be the Food City at Central and Dunlap because that flyer makes me angry. I wish you luck against this despicable trick!

I was happy to see you standing up for your name and great reputation in response to the cheap tactics being used by the local grocery union. I have been in the valley for about 30 years now and the newcomers here have been asking about your grocery stores and what is going on.
I told them not to listen to the issues being presented by the union and to focus on great stores and employees who make them up, and by the way are paid well with good benefits.
My wife and I enjoy your stores and employees and wish you all the best with this distraction, and again it was with pleasure that I listened to you stand up for yourself and your employees,we need to speak up more these days for our pride and reputation, it is indeed the sign of a good leader, integrity and credibility is what is important in the makeup of people.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and this nonsense will surely pass.
