As the mayor of this great city, a former grocery manager for Safeway for 38 years, and as a citizen, I have always respected and admired the only family chain that has survived the ever-changing times. As a competitor I was always in awe of how well our employees spoke of Eddie Basha and how well you treated your employees. There was never a need for unionization of your stores because of the employee culture Eddie had created... Thank you for being an integral part of our community. I was glad to know of the lawsuit that is against the UFCW and its affiliates. I think it is time to stop those people that keep bad mouthing Food City. I am a FC customer since 1995 and I will continue shopping at your stores. I have seen how this union, UFCW has made its effort to discredit Food City. The members of Hungry for Respect assisted a meeting for the Latino club at Phoenix College to defame Food City. Unfortunately we were few from the group that did not believe what they were telling us and we questioned their statements. Finally they left a bit upset. The last thing that I have seen from UFCW was a flier that was mailed to complete and return to UFCW, as a support to them. I did not even read it, I simply threw it away. I also heard several of my friends comment that they received phone calls in regards to a poll. Not sure if the poll was something done through FC or the union. It was probably done by FC since I am sure all of you are concern of what we think of FC. I, as a customer am very satisfied with the service I receive during my visits to your stores. Every time I have the opportunity to talk to my friends about this controversy, I try to explain things as they are. I remind them that FC has always supported our community and there is no doubt that FC will continue doing it in the future. I just heard that Bashas' is going to sue the Union because of their last antics. The Union must be pretty desperate and need the employees' money an awful lot. Rosa L. |
